Many new Colorado homeowners are discovering just how common the classic Colorado golden wood-stained theme that is found within our community is. This interior project portfolio is an excellent example of how one client chose to transform their home's interior into something a bit more up to date.
Deciding What to Paint
The original interior theme included this massive wooden beam and post which had a very dry raw wood appearance. In addition, all windows, doors, and bookshelves added to that same theme with their golden yellow wood-stained hue. Our main goal for the first phase of the project was to pull away from the tan walls and cover up some of the wood-stained surfaces throughout the home's interior. The wooden beam and post would retain the wooden accent but would have an oil penetrating wood stain applied to give it a subtle hue. While the vaulted ceilings do add a positive element to the interior, they also provide an extra challenge when attempting to reach their heights. All furniture, cabinets, glass, and flooring needed to be covered while the work was the crew was painting.

New Colors for a New Home
High contrast was to become the project’s theme color goal with a white for the walls and ceilings and a black for the windows and doors. Believing the beams and post were always meant to boast their wood grains, covering them up would have missed an opportunity to show off their beauty. Instead, the homeowners welcomed the wood-stained theme to remain as a main accent but brought a more enriched look to the wood with the oil-stain than before. As a last-minute add-on, the two bookshelves on each side of the fireplace were added to the scope of the work.
